Our Client is a global provider of Retail Technology Solutions (SW/HW & Services) for tier 1 & 2 grocery retail chains. There solutions encompass: Instore, online/Ecommerce, as well as Robotics, Logistics and Supply Chain orientated solutions.

We are looking to hire a Commercial Business Development Director to drive business development and commercial activities, across there multiple lines of business, within the UK and Ireland.

Yes this is a team leading role, but this is also a scale-up opportunity within quite a large technology vendor. As such ... this won’t be an "ivory-tower" role... and will require the kind of player-coach individual that will lead the team from the front and work with the wider management team on strategy and execution across the UK & Ireland.

Key Need:

We are looking for a Commercial person, someone that comes from a background in front of customers as either a Commercial Director, Business Development Director or Even a Sales Director. Given the "solutions" orientated approach of the client... we could look at individuals from either a Product Vendor Background (SW & services) OR even a Professional Services Business (Si OR Consulting services). At the core we are looking for someone with:

1. An understanding of the Tier 1 & 2 Grocery Retail chains across the UK & Ireland:

    1. Could have Driven Sales/Commercial activities into tier 1 / 2 grocery chains (Product Sw/hw or Services Engagements)
    2. Potentially could have sold/Delivered Transformation Programmes into them for a services company....
    3. ..or potentially may have held a senior operations role within a tier 1/2 Grocer in the past.

2. Someone that knows how to lead long-term commercial activities and strategy – someone that understands the P&L of a Grocer, how they operate, the best way to generate win-win business models with such grocers and effectively lead both commercial activities, and a team of people, to generate growth and new business opportunities for our client across the UK & Ireland.
