Title: Principal Consultant Support Engineering:

Location: Berlin Germany (primarily office-based)

 

Our Client is a Global Leader in Service & Security Assurance solutions (Network NPM, Applications APM, Security – DDOS / Advanced Threat) for Global Fortune 1000 organisations, Telco’s & Government Agencies.

 

We essentially are looking for a solid principal consultant, with a background in support engineering to work with some of our clients major Government customers. This individual, whilst working with major German customers will work within a major international post sales organisation. Customer engagement / technical account management skills are very highly desired!!!

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Becoming embedded within the customer’s operational and design staff to be our client’s technical Subject Matter Expert with the customer
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving technical customer issues
  • Recreating, tracking, and verifying software defects in the field or under lab conditions reported by customers,
  • Assisting with security attack mitigations (pre-attack prep, during-attack assistance, post-attack reviews)
  • Creating and Testing Method Operating Procedures (MOPs) prior to customer maintenance activities
  • Providing feedback from customers to product management and engineering teams via appropriate systems
  • Maintaining on-call phone availability for critical escalations

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in technical support functions with very strong fundamental understanding of telecom network and routing environments.
  • Advanced networking skills required (TCP/IP, and BGP Routing), and NetFlow experience and understanding desired
  • Strong network security skills required, Knowledge of DDoS and mitigation techniques
  • Knowledge of network test equipment (IXIA, Spirent) and network management tools (SNMP, MRTG… etc.), and
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Linux and/or Solaris Operating System, and scripting.
  • Ability to work in a self-sufficient manner, involving other parties where necessary.

Additional skills

  • Outstanding customer service and communications skills,
  • Native German language skills with the Ability to Fluently work with the English language.
